My story

Getting past 80%

The habit that kept everything in my head, and what finally changed.

The story

Before → turning point → after

Before

Shinied at 80%

“I had a habit of getting projects to 80% and then getting shinied, distracted by a new project.” A shirt store I started around 2015 and shelved. A communication course that sat for about three years. A 30-day challenge that stopped on day 16. A garage full of things that were “listed” but not selling.

Turning point

Run it like a submarine

I started working with AI helpers the way I ran maintenance on a submarine: every project gets a card that says what it is, how often it's due, and what “done” looks like. One rule matters most: anything at 80% or more gets reported every week as shipped, blocked, or shelved. Nothing quietly dies.

After

Things ship

A pricing playbook published on Kindle and Etsy. Shirts live again. A chandelier that sat for years, sold. 844 old notes out of one app and into files I own. Taxes getting caught up. Not everything is finished. That's why this site exists: it's the log.

AI has helped me prioritize, break down, and schedule tasks so the things living in my head can come out into the world.
